Learn ASL at Home is a beginning American Sign Language class for family members and friends of young deaf and hard of hearing children ages 0-3. We will use the ASL at Home curriculum to teach you how to communicate effectively with your child in ASL during 4 daily routines: meal time, bath time, diaper changes, and book sharing.
(Independent prep work begins September 26, Zoom sessions begin October 3)
10-11am Pacific TimeRegistration deadline: September 25
You must register in order to take the class!
When you purchase a Learn ASL at Home class, you will receive an email with a link to a registration form.
If you are buying the class for someone else, you may forward the link to them. There is a limit of 1 registration per purchase, and a maximum of 10 registrations per class, to maximize visual access on Zoom.
Class will be provided via the Zoom videoconferencing platform, with Google Classroom to streamline group communication and file sharing.
Q: My child is over 3 years old. Can I still take the class?
A: You may take the class, but just keep in mind that the topics and vocabulary in this class are geared toward younger children. However, we can modify or add to the vocabulary to accommodate the needs of older children.
Q: I already know some ASL. Will this class be a good fit for me?
A: This class is at the beginner level. If you are already conversational in ASL, it will likely be too easy for you. However, your friends or family who are at a more beginner level would likely benefit greatly from learning to communicate with your child!
Q: I am a professional who does not yet know ASL. Can I take this class?
A: Sure!
